Mumbai, June 10: In the Shiv Sena's ongoing agitation against "outsiders", Shiv sainiks stormed the office of a marketing agency in neighbouring Thane district yesterday, gheraoed its owner and received an apology besides assurances to employ Maharashtrian youths. Nearly 100 Shiv sainiks protested Asian international's employment advertisement seeking applications from youths hailing from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Nepal, but not Maharashtrians.
Incidentally, the agency's advertisement for employment was carried on June 6 by "Dopahar ka Saamna", the Hindi mouth-piece of Shiv Sena.
When activists of Bharatiya Vidyarthi Sena, the student wing of the Sena, called up the agency's office to enquire as to why applications from Maharashtrian youths were not being solicited, they were told that "Marathi youths were not hardworking and honest", Shiv Sena sources alleged.
The activists then decided to protest against the agency at its office in Raj Darshan society opposite thane railway station yesterday.
The Shiv sainiks gheroed the company's owner B B Chand, its manager and a consultant for over three hours. The matter was resolved only after the owner tendered a written apology and assured them that applications of Marathi youths will be entertained.
Recently, former Sena MLC Shishir Shinde had led a morcha of Shiv sainiks in suburban Mulund against some departmental stores and fast food outlets.
