Jammu, Nov 03: Accusing the Mufti Mohammad Sayeed government in Jammu and Kashmir of pursuing "militant-friendly and anti-Jammu policies", BJP called for a Jammu bandh today.
"The coalition government is pursuing a militant-friendly and anti-Jammu policies and the BJP is left with no other option but to observe bandh for a day in Jammu region," state president of the saffron party Dr Nirmal Singh said here.
If the government failed to mend its ways, bandhs would be organised in other parts of the state also, he said.
"The present government is worse than the previous one led by Dr Farooq Abdullah. Its misdeeds need to be thoroughly exposed. It has failed to fulfil the aspirations of the people of Jammu region, who are being discriminated against," Singh told a BJP meeting here this afternoon.
"It is denying opportunities for people of Jammu and Ladakh regions and giving full protection to persons with doubtful credentials," he alleged. "Several PDP and Congress Ministers and MLAs are involved in anti-national activities and the policies of the present government are extremely harmful for the nation as well as the people of Jammu and Ladakh regions."

Time has come for bjp to play the role of opposition more effectively, he said.

Welcoming the Centre's offer of talks to Hurriyat, he said BJP would accept only that solution which integrates the state fully with the rest of the country and is acceptable to the people of Jammu and Ladakh, displaced Kashmiri Hindus and other religious and ethnic minorities in the valley.

"Hurriyat in no way is the sole representative of the people of the state," he added.
