Singapore, July 22: Four-month-old South Korean twins joined at the pelvis were today separated at the same Singapore hospital where Iranian sisters seeking the same goal died two weeks ago. Dr Prem Kumar Nair said that the separation took place after one hour and 40 minutes of surgery at raffles hospital, where the team of Singapore specialists then continued working with the baby girls on two separate tables.

The surgery on Min Ji Hye and her sister, Sa Rang, was expected to last six to eight hours.

Twenty-nine-year-old Iranian twins Laleh and Ladan Bijani, fused at the head, died July 8 in the operating room at raffles hospital after massive bleeding during the unsuccessful separation procedure.
