Joint Labour Commissioner granted bail in corruption case
New Delhi, Feb 18: Joint Labour Commissioner Virender Kumar, arrested by CBI on charges of demanding bribe from a city-based industrialist, was today granted bail by a Delhi court which asked him to surrender his passport.

Delhi court which asked him to surrender his passport.
Special Judge R K Gauba ordered the release of Kumar on
furnishing a personal bond of Rs 10,000 with one surety of the
like amount.
While directing the accused to surrender his passport,
the court asked him not to leave the country without its
prior permission.
The court also directed Kumar to join the investigation as and when called upon by the investigating officer and not to contact or try to influence any witness.
The case was registered against Kumar on a complaint lodged by one George Vergese, owner of Kanan foam industries, alleging that the accused demanded a bribe of Rs 25,000 from him to settle his dispute with the Labour Department.
Thereafter, he was remanded to two-day police custody and then sent to judicial custody which was to expire on February 25. The agency had also conducted search at his houses at Janakpuri and Ghaziabad. Bureau Report
