Mumbai, Feb 01: This guy has left us breathless with his constant bombarding of good music in the past few years. And Shankar Mahadevan is at it again. As you read this, get prepared to see and hear the singer-musician belt out some lovely songs in our own city at the HT City Mood of the Youth concert at DPS (RK Puram) Sports Complex on Feb 2
In reality too Mahadevan leads a breathless life, juggling music from one end of the country to the other. Says wife Sangeeta: “It’s difficult to catch him. He is so busy.” But in between flying from one studio to the other, Mahadevan manages to emphasise that he is here for the youth: “I’ve always represented the youth through my songs. I enjoy the energy that I’m able to bring to my songs.” His prescription for all of us cribbing about lack of time: “It’s all about time management. If you plan in advance, there’s no reason why you can’t do so many things in a given day.”
That’s why he is able to spend ‘a much-deserved’ weekend with wife and children – Siddharth, 10, and Shivam, 2. And that’s why he is also able to work for six to seven films, about to be released this year. “I’m working on a lot many films these days, as a singer and musician (as part of the trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy). We are working in Farhan Akhtar’s Lakshya, Karan Johar’s next and in Nai Padosan among others.” He’s also working on a new solo album, Nine, with lyrics by Javed Akhtar. “He is like a family now. Most projects that I’m doing these days are with him,” he says in one breath, before he jets off for another edition of his breathless life.
