New Delhi: Researchers with the help of infrared cameras have managed to spot two types of rare Asian golden cats at a natural reserve in China, claims a report.

Baishuijiang National Nature Reserve officials in Gansu province spotted the cats featuring different fur colours.

Out of the lot, one has “leopard-like'' spots all over the body while the other is with reddish brown fur.

The Asian golden cat is believed to have a body length of about 90 cm.

The species have not been seen in years in the reserve until about 200 infrared cameras were installed there in 2014.
