The bail hearing for two sikh men, accused of conspiracy in the bombing of an Air India jet in 1985 which killed 329 people, will carry over into next week. Lawyers for both sides had originally hoped to finish their arguments in the British Columbia Supreme Court on Friday. It is the first bail hearing for Ajaib Singh Bagri and Ripudaman Singh Malik who were arrested by Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) two months ago in connection with the bombing of the jumbo jet off the coast of Ireland and the killing of two baggage handlers in Japan.
Prosecutors Joseph Bellows and Richard Cairns gave the packed courtroom the first glimpse of the case against the pair but a publication ban imposed by judge Patrick Dohm prevents details from being released.
The bombing of flight 182, has been called one of the worst acts of terrorism in aviation history.
Bagri, 51, and Malik, 53, are in custody but did not attend the first two days of hearings.
