The National Directorate of Adult Education (NAE) has decided to standardise the curriculam of six branches in the vocational education system to improve its quality. At the 23rd annual conference of the state resource centre and the inauguration of the silver jubilee of the Tamil Nadu Board of continuing education in Tiruchirapalli on Sunday night, NAE Director Vishnu Kumar said that the branches included electrical, electronics and refrigeration and airconditioning. He said that the directorate would send the new syllabus to the education centres for its implementation.
In his address, NAE Additional Director V Mohan Kumar said that the directorate also proposed to bring out a hand-book on manual training for those handling continuing education programmes under the National Literacy Programme. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Beer Mohideen, Director non-formal and adult education, government of Tamil Nadu, appealed to the Union Government to sanction adequate funds for the implementation of the continuing education in all the districts of the state.
