South African captain Shaun Pollock attributed his team's quarter-final victory over England to the hard work put in by them during the four days in the run-up to the match against England in Nairobi. “Last four days of preparation here helped us to get off to a good start,” Pollock said after South Africa thrashed England by eight wickets here.
Pollock however said his team would require an even better performance in the semi-final against India on Friday. “We will have to be more prepared to put in a better performance.” Man-of-the-match Jacques Kallis, who excelled with the bat and the ball claiming two wickets for 26 runs and leading his side with an unconquered 78, said he enjoyed batting because it is a good pitch to bat on.
Asked whether he enjoyed batting more than bowling, Kallis repsonded batting but was quick to add he enjoyed both as ‘I had a good outing’. England skipper Nasser Hussain was dejected at his team's exit from the tournament.
“We have got the basics right but we will have a lot of hard work to do,” Hussain said in reference to England's forthcoming tour of Pakistan.
