Shimla: The Himachal Pradesh BJP on Wednesday demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh after the CBI filed charge sheet against by him in a disproportionate assets case.
The party also demanded dissolution of the state assembly to pave wave for fresh polls.
State BJP chief spokesperson Rajiv Bindal, while addressing the mediapersons, questioned the moral authority of Singh to continue in office.
He said that it was unprecedented in the history of Himachal Pradesh that the residence of a sitting Chief Minister was raided and his properties were sealed but still he was not ready to resign.
"Singh should resign in the interest of the state, people of Himachal Prdaesh and Congress party as people of the state are tolerating the corrupt government for the past four years and the time is rife for dissolution of the assembly," he added.
Dubbing?the Congress High Command as "indecisive and weak", Bindal asked why the party leadership was feeling so helpless before Singh.
"The state government is on ventilator for the past four-and-a-half-year and the lawyers are taking crores of rupees to put oxygen in the government and nobody is ready to take the responsibility of pathetic condition of the state," he claimed.
Bindal accused the state government of misusing the state resources and putting extra burden on the state exchequer by appointing more than 40 chairman and Vice Chairman, who have been appointed just to give statements against the BJP on the directions of the Chief Minister.
Lashing out at the Congress for staging protest in front of the residence of Leader of Opposition P K Dhumal, the BJP spokesperson said "after the charge sheet is submitted, he also accused the Chief Minister of pursuing politics of vengeance.
Bindal said that Singh has been targeting the BJP leaders for the past four-and-a-half years and now when his days are numbered, he is trying to find properties of Dhumal that did not exist.
