Congress steps up attack on Left over Nandigram issue

Stepping up attack on the Left over the Nandigram issue, Congress today made an oblique demand for the resignation of West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee.

New Delhi, March 20: Stepping up attack on the Left
over the Nandigram issue, Congress today made an oblique
demand for the resignation of West Bengal Chief Minister
Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee.

"It is a question of morality. Which office-bearer should
do what? It is a moral decision for the organisation concerned
and persons involved", party spokesman Abhishek Singhvi told
reporters when asked whether the party was demanding dismissal
of the Left Front government or resignation of the Chief Minister.

He side-stepped a question whether Congress sees a
parallel between Bhattacharjee and Uttar Pradesh Chief
Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav whose resignation was sought by
the party on moral grounds on several occasions including the
Nithari serial killings.
