Detroit, Dec 22: Rapper Eminem and his estranged wife have quietly finalized terms of their second divorce -- less than a year after they remarried and five years after an ugly first divorce before the same Michigan judge.
A spokesman for Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Mathers III, said on Wednesday the rapper's divorce had been finalized in a Detroit-area court.
The couple, who had remarried in January, agreed to an undisclosed settlement and joint custody of their 10-year-old daughter, Hailie Jade Scott, according to published reports.
The couple's first divorce, finalized in 2001, prompted both a custody battle over the child and Eminem's hit "Kim" -- a graphic rap fantasy about his wife's death.
"I can confirm the divorce was finalized," said Dennis Dennehy, a spokesman for Eminem with Interscope, a unit of Universal Music Group that distributes his music.
Mathers and now ex-wife Kimberly Mathers first married in 1999, but filed for divorce a year later.
Both Eminem and Kimberly Mathers have battled addiction and legal problems in recent years.
In 2005, Eminem was treated for addiction to a sleep medication and had to cancel a European tour. In 2000, he pulled a gun on a bartender he saw kissing his then-wife and was sentenced to two years probation.
Kim Mathers pleaded guilty to cocaine possession in 2004.
The couple reconciled in 2005, remarried in a January wedding in a Detroit suburb, but then separated weeks later.
Eminem emerged from a kind of semi-retirement this month with "Eminem Presents: The Re-Up," a compilation CD he produced with lesser-known artists affiliated with his Shady Records label.
