Jodhpur, July 04: A team of experts has left for five
villages in Sanchore Tehsil of Jalore district in western
Rajasthan to assess the intensity of locust swarms, official
sources said here today.

Experts from neighbouring Gujarat were also visiting the
affected villages to help the locust warning organisation in
eradicating the insects, divisional commissioner Manohar Kant
told reporters.

Eight spraying machines, already sent to the affected
villages, had started spraying insecticides to kill the
swarms, he said.

The farmers in the affected villages - Pratap Pura, Paladar, Luniasar, Badsam and Mekhpura - and the neighbouring
areas have requested the Jalore district administration to
take quick measures to eradicate the locust swarms and save
their new crop.
