Jerusalem, Sept 23: Israeli radio stations reported
today that Israel has arrested three Palestinians suspected of
training with al Qaeda operatives in Iraq and planning terror
attacks in Israel.

Israeli officials recently flew to the United States to
brief the pentagon on the arrests, the reports said, providing
no further detail.

The Israeli defense ministry said it was not aware of
such arrests. The Israeli army spokesman had no immediate
comment.

The United States is trying to garner international
support for a possible attack against Iraq with the intention
of removing Iraqi President Saddam Hussein from power.

US administration officials allege that there are
direct, although unspecified, ties between al Qaeda and
Saddam. But they do not accuse Saddam of involvement in the
September 11, 2001 terror attacks on the United States.

Israeli defense minister Binyamin Ben-Eliezer said today
that Israel is willing to help the united states in any way
possible in an operation against Iraq.

Ben-Eliezer said such assistance could include the use of
airports and sharing of intelligence information on Iraq.
