Srinagar, July 03: A local court here today sent
senior IAS officer Mohammad Iqbal Khanday and a hotel manager,
arrested in connection with the sex racket case in Jammu and
Kashmir, to 14 days judicial remand.
Khanday, a 1978 batch IAS officer, and Riyaz Ahmed Kawa,
manager of hotel Naaz, were presented before Chief Judicial
Magistrate, Srinagar, M Y Akhoon who remanded them to judicial
custody till July 17.
The IAS officer, posted as Principal Secretary (Planning)
in the state government, and Kawa were arrested on June 29 on
the basis of statement by Sabeena, the alleged kingpin of the
sex racket that was corroborated by another woman Yaseemna.
