Bangalore, June 27: In a reallocation of portfolios after carrying out a major ministry reshuffle, Karnataka chief
minister S M Krishna has retained finance and allotted the
same key portfolios to senior ministers they had held earlier.
Senior home minister Mallikarjun Kharge, PWD minister
Dharam Singh, forest minister K H Ranganath, major and medium irrigation minister H K Patil and rural development and panchayatraj minister M Y Ghorpade continue to hold the same departments.
Revenue minister H C Srikantaiah, law and parliamentary
affairs minister D B Chandregowda and large and medium
industries minister R V Deshpande have retained their
departments. Kharge, however, gets the additional department of minor irrigation.
According to a Raj Bhavan communique issued around
midnight, another senior minister Kagodu Thimappa, who was earlier holding the social welfare department, has been
allotted health and family welfare and information.
Vishwanath has been allotted cooperation, a Krishnappa
social welfare, Sageer Ahmed housing and Roshan Baig small scale industries and Haj. Earlier, they were holding primary and secondary education, sugar, transport and tourism, respectively.
Shifting from housing, Qamrul Islam has been allocated
labour, which A M Hindusgeri, dropped from the ministry, was holding, while D K Shivakumar gets urban development from cooperation.
V S Koujalagi has been given agriculture department, which was earlier held by T B Jayachandra, who was also dropped in the reshuffle. Dr G Parameshwara, who was elevated to the cabinet rank, continues to hold higher education department.
