Lok Sabha adjourned for the day

The Lok Sabha was adjourned for
the day today without transacting any business as a mark of
respect in memory of former Sri Lankan Prime Minister Sirimavo
Bandaranaike, former Union Minister C Subramaniam, former
Congress President Sitaram Kesri and three other members.

Soon after the House assembled on the opening day of the
Winter Session, speaker G M C Balayogi made obituary
references to these leaders after which Prime Minister Atal
Bihari Vajpayee, leader of Opposition Sonia Gandhi and other
leaders paid glowing tributes to the departed leaders.
