Chennai, Jan 10: The Madras High Court on Tuesday declined
to stay the conduct of a general council meeting of MDMK,
scheduled to be held here on Wednesday.
When a civil suit filed by MDMK district treasurer and
general council member Saidai Ravi alias Ravichandran, came up
for hearing, Justice M Thanickachalam ordered issue of notice
to Vaiko and rebel leaders L Ganesan and Gingee Ramachandran,
returnable in two weeks.
The petitioner sought permanent injunction to restrain
MDMK leader Vaiko from convening any general council meeting
at any future date which would allegedly contravene the party
bye-laws.
He argued that conduct of such meetings would cause
"irreparable injury" and "hardship" to him being a general
council member.
