Mohun Bagan retain Barreto, Chidi

Kolkata: The experienced forward duo of Jose Ramirez Barreto of Brazil and Edeh Chidi of Nigeria will remain with Mohun Bagan for the 2010-11 season, the team management said on Monday.

“We want to end all speculation about Chidi and Barreto. They will continue for us for one more season 2010-2011. We will announce the the name of the third foreigner when we announce the full team,” Mohun Bagan general secretary Anjan Mitra told reporters here. There is a buzz that Mohun Bagan have struck a deal with Mahindra United`s striker Muritala Ali, who has impressed this season with 16 goals, second highest in the I-League. It is also learnt that Mohun Bagan have approached Shillong FC defender Daniel Bidemi. “We are yet to finalise the name of the third foreigner though a few names have been shortlisted. We will announce the names in due course,” Mitra said. The club, which has McDowell as its title sponsor, announced the name of a local business conglomerate, iCore, as an associate sponsor for the new season. Incidentally, the managing director of the company Anukul Maity became one the club`s vice-presidents a few days ago. PTI
