Pennetta propels Italy into Fed Cup final

Rome: Fed Cup holders Italy reached their second straight final after Flavia Pennetta overcame Czech Petra Kvitova to seal an unassailable 3-0 lead on Sunday.

World number 15 Pennetta, who beat Lucia Hradecka in the first rubber of the semi-final on Saturday, barely got out of first gear as she swatted aside Kvitova 7-6 (7-3), 6-2 on the clay at Rome`s Foro Italico.Czech number one Lucie Safarova had been due to face Pennetta but was switched with Kvitova after being crushed 6-0, 6-2 by Francesca Schiavone in Saturday`s second match.United States or Russia, who wrap up their last four clash later on Sunday, will meet Italy in November`s final.
