Rains lash several parts of northern region

Chandigarh, Sept 08: Heavy rains continued to lash many places in the northern region for the third consecutive day today, plummeting temperatures by several degrees.

The city received 70 mm of rain since yesterday and the mercury dropped five degrees below normal today to settle at 28.2 degrees celsius, the meteorological department said here.

Ambala was lashed by 33 mm of rain and the high there dropped by six degrees at 29.4 degrees celsius.

In Punjab, rains pounded Ludhiana, Patiala and Amritsar.

The MeT office has forecast rather heavy rain at many places in Punjab, Haryana and Himachal during the next 48 hours.
