Lucknow, Jan 25: UP Chief Minister Mulayam Singh
Yadav on Thursday rejected a CBI probe into the Madarsa rape case in
Allahabad saying the agency too was prone to pulls and
pressures even as Muslim clerics and organisations staged a
sit-in here protesting the incident.

"Police are capable of solving the case and there is no
need for a CBI inquiry," Yadav said replying to a discussion
on the motion of thanks to the governor for his address to the
state assembly.

He said the CBI too was prone to pulls and pressures.

"I know that the CBI too works under pressures. I have
been a victim myself of its bias," Yadav told the house.

He said four people had already been arrested in
connection with incident and accused the opposition of trying
to give a communal colour to the entire episode.

Muslim cleric and People's Democratic Front chairman
Maulana Mufti Abul Irfan Firangimahalai demanded a CBI probe
into the incident and a compensation of Rs five each to the
victims.

The Maulana and other clerics staged a sit-in here to
protest the Allahabad incident.

Muslim Forum leader Mohammad Nehaluddin, Momim
Conference president Naimullah Ansari and Muslim Samaj
president Mohammad Haseeb were among those who joined the
sit-in.
