GUESS who’s spoiling Chief Minister Rajnath Singh’s attempts to project a ‘clean’ image: a member of his own Cabinet. Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiya has been accused in an FIR lodged by the director of the National Botanical Research Institute (NBRI) of trying to arm-twist the director into appointing one of his cronies.
‘‘Two persons claiming to be the minister’s supporters barged into my office last Wednesday and threatened me with dire consequences if I didn’t hire one of the minister’s men,’’ director P. Pushpangadan told The Indian Express. The minister’s appointee Mohan Singh — a Thakur — is a research associate at the Institute of Paleobotany; however, there’s no department for paleobotany at NBRI.
