Patna, Apr 30: Senior Bihar politician and former Union Minister Chandra Deo Prasad Verma died here today due to heart failure.
Following a complaint of chest pain, he was admitted to the Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH) where he breathed his last this morning, family sources said.
Verma, 84, is survived by three daughters. He has been a member of the Lok Sabha thrice in 1977, 1980 and 1996.
He served as a Minister at the Centre in 1996. He was also minister in Bihar from 1993-95 and 1995-96 in the then Chief Minister Laloo Prasad's government.
Verma was also an accused in the multi-crore fodder scam.
His body was brought to the assembly where the Speaker of the outgoing house Sadanand Singh and other senior leaders including, Ramashray Prasad Singh and RJD state president Abdul Bari Siddiqui paid their respects.
