Sitting Congress MLA died in road accident in Bhubneshwar

Sitting Congress MLA Biren Palei died in a road accident near Jashotikira Chhak on the national highway five, close to his home constituency Bhadrak, about 120 km from Bhubneshwar, on Friday night.

Mr Palei, former chairman of Bhadrak municipality, was elected
to the state assembly for the first time in the last year`s
elections.

Official sources said that the young Congress MLA, also Bhadrak
district congress president, was returning to his hometown after
attending the budget session when the mishap occurred.

The vehicle in which he was travelling had a head-on collision
with a truck at about 2300 hours. Mr Palei was immediately rushed to
the Bhadrak hospital in a critical condition, where the doctors
declared him brought dead.

He is survived by his wife, three daughters and a son.

The death of Mr Palei sent shock waves in the political circles
in Bhubneshwar, and several leaders from various political parties and
ministers had rushed to Bhadrak to pay their last tribute to the
departed soul.
