Bhubaneswar, July 21: The stalemate over the signing of the tripartite agreement by the Orissa government, Centre and RBI for settlement of dues of NTPC ended today with the three-member cabinet sub-committee unanimously favouring the agreement.
The cabinet sub-committee unanimously recommended that the tripartite agreement should be signed by the government, chairman of the sub-committee and energy minister, A U Singh Deo told reporters at the end of a marathon meeting here.
Singh Deo said that the report of the sub-committee would be submitted to the chief minister Naveen Patnaik and the cabinet would take a final view on the matter.
''The view given in the report is in keeping with the larger interest of the people and state,” he said.
The sub-committee was set up by the cabinet on July 9 last after it failed to take a decision on the issue following differences between the energy minister and finance minister Ramakrushna Patnaik.
The sub-committee comprised the energy and finance ministers besides the industries minister K V Singh Deo.
