The year witnessed several developments which in future would be remembered, at least in the pages of political history, for achieving a milestone. The critics may differ but the signing of the Indo-US civil nuclear deal between Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and President George W Bush has opened a new vista of strategic partnership and a shift in South Asian politics.
