Rome, Apr 25: Tom Cruise has said he almost decided not to embark on a tour to promote "Mission: Impossible III" because of the birth of his baby daughter Suri last week, but reconsidered after discussing the trip with the girl`s mother Katie Holmes.
"My daughter has just been born and I want to be close to her. I thought about not coming to Rome, but Kate said go and have fun," Cruise told reporters in Rome ahead of the film`s world premiere.
Publicity surrounding Cruise` private life, particularly the conversion of Catholic-born Holmes to scientology, has helped promote the film ahead of its release worldwide next
Most of the interest at a news conference to promote the film was about how the couple are coping with a baby.
"I changed her first," he said.
"I change diapers all the time. I have to tell you I love it. We have a whole system worked out. It`s the `b and b`. She does the breast feeding and I do the burping and changing the diapers. It`s teamwork. It`s fun."
The movie is being premiered in Rome ahead of its world release on May 5 because many of the scenes were shot in the eternal city, as well as Shanghai and Los Angeles.
Cruise, 43, patiently signed autographs and posed for pictures for about half an hour after his press conference in the City Centre.
In "Mission: Impossible III" Cruise stars as secret agent Ethan Hawke who comes face to face with sadistic arms dealer played by Oscar-winning actor Philip Seymour Hoffman.
