In the 2024 Jharkhand Assembly elections, the constituency witnessed a competitive contest with Geeta Balmuchu of the BJP and Deepak Birua of the JMM being the key candidates, along with several independent contenders. The presence of prominent political figures made the battle for the seat highly anticipated.



In the 2019 assembly elections, Deepak Birua of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha had emerged victorious, defeating J. B. Tubid of the Bharatiya Janata Party by a significant margin of 26,159 votes. This prior success of the JMM set the stage for an intense fight in the 2024 elections.

10.16 am: In the 2019 Assembly election, Deepak Birua from the JMM secured victory against J. B. Tubid of the BJP.

11.38 am: Vote counting is underway in Jharkhand's Chaibasa. Early trends suggest that Deepak Birua from the JMM is in the lead, with Bir Singh Hembrom of RTRP following in second place.


12.15 pm: JMM candidate Deepak Birua is leading from the Chaibasa seat by 29695 votes against BJP candidate Geeta Balmuchu. Birua has got 50443 votes while Geeta polled 20748 votes. 


1.32 pm: BJP's Geeta Balmuchu faces a tough challenge in Chaibasa, where she is currently in second place. JMM's Deepak Birua holds a commanding lead of 37,649 votes over her.


2.17 pm: Independent Candidate Ramesh Balmuchu is ranked third.
