A trainee aircraft, which took off from Hakimpet Air Force station, crashed in Bahupeta village in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district of Telangana.

According to news agency PTI, the pilot - a flying cadet - managed to eject safely before the plane crashed. He sustained injuries on his leg and was shifted to a hospital. Indian Air Force PRO Anupam Banerjee said that the Kiran aircraft took off from Hakimpet Air Force station on a routine training mission around 1145hrs, crashing shortly after.


A court of inquiry has been constituted to investigate the cause of the accident.


This is the second incident of a training aircraft crashing this month. On November 21, a training aircraft belonging to Rajiv Gandhi Aviation Academy had plummeted into an agricultural field in Mokila with the pilot inside sustaining minor injuries.
