Jaipur: As the ruling BJP in Rajasthan completes four years on December 13, state Urban Development Minister Shrichand Kriplani has announced Rs 1,000 crore to repair Jaipur city`s potholed roads. He also blamed the previous Congress regime for the plight of roads in Jaipur.

Setting October 2018 as the deadline to accomplish levelling of potholed roads, Kriplani promised the residents of Jaipur of delivering smooth roads by next year.

He added that the tender work was already in progress and work would start from January 2018.

"You will be unable to find even a single pothole on the roads after October 2018," he told the media here.

The announcement comes as the people of the city are quite upset over the poor state of roads, which is giving them a tough time to commute.

Holding the previous Congress dispensation responsible for the present plight of roads in Jaipur, the Minister said they did not take the right initiatives in this direction during their rule.

Kriplani claimed that the Jaipur Development Authority, under four years of the ruling BJP, has spent Rs 4,406 crore funds against a meagre Rs 1,725 crore spent by the Congress during its five years, which he said "speaks volumes" about the latter`s seriousness towards urban development projects.
