Biswa Bangla case - Prove allegations, else leave Bengal: Abhishek Banerjee to Mukul Roy

KOLKATA: Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee on Tuesday hit back at newly-inducted BJP leader Mukul Roy, asking him to prove allegations in Biswa Bangla case or else leave the state.

“This is an attempt to destroy my goodwill with lies. If any allegations are proved correct, I will leave Bengal. Else Mukul Roy should leave the state,” said Banerjee in court.

Bankshall Sessions Court was listening to a petition filed by Banerjee against Roy.

On Monday, Alipurduar court issued a showcause notice to Roy, asking why it shouldn't proceed against him for defying its restraint order.

In November, the court had restrained the BJP leader from comment the kin of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee with two organisations — Biswa Bangla Marketing Corporation Limited and Jago Bangla Media Private Limited.

Defying the order, Roy levelled fresh charges, approaching Patiala House complex in New Delhi levelling criminal defamation charges against Banerjee.
