Union Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu and Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar will on Wednesday accompany the mortal remains of Dr Kalam to Rameswaram, official sources said, as per PTI.
"No salute will be enough for this great son of Mother India who was an icon for the children and the youth of the country and a great dedicated teacher till he breathed his last," says Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh.
Terming A P J Abdul Kalam's demise as an 'irreparable loss', Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) today said the former president was a role model for all, including Muslims.
Speaking at an interaction here, VHP joint general secretary Surendra Jain said Kalam was a person beyond the boundaries of any religion.
"But even if we consider him a Muslim, he is a role model for the Muslim society. Their role models cannot be Ghazni, Aurangzeb, Jinnah or leaders like Owaisi or Azam Khan. If the Muslims of the country have to progress, then they should accept APJ Abdul Kalam as their role model who spent each moment of his life for the country and its progress," Jain told reporters, as per PTI.

Minutes after the gates of 10, Rajaji Marg were thrown open to the public, utter chaos reigned as a massive crowd advanced in waves to get a last glimpse of former president APJ Abdul Kalam, leading to a stampede like situation and laying bare the administration's ill-preparedness. The woes of people, especially women and the elderly, waiting for hours in unbearable humid conditions, were aggravated by serpentine unorganised queues, with no clear demarcation or barricades being put up, PTI reported.
With little crowd management at the entrance of the bungalow as well as inside, many jumped the queue resulting in an ugly situation where the elderly and women screamed for help after getting caught in the melee, in complete contrast to the sombre mood of the occasion.

A lesson on the life of late former president APJ Abdul Kalam will be taught in schools across Madhya Pradesh in a bid to make students ideal citizens in their life, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said today, as per PTI.
"A lesson on Dr Kalam's life will be taught in schools. Kalam's death has created a void and irreparable loss that can't be filled. Kalam proved that a person from modest family background can make it to the highest office by the virtue of talent and hard work," Chouhan said.
"APJ, the president of common man ignited minds of young India and gave them a dream to live for. May his soul rest in eternal peace," says RSS all-India prachar pramukh Manmohan Vaidya.

The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) today condoled the demise of former president APJ Abdul Kalam and said in his passing away the country has lost one of her greatest sons.
"While sharing the deep sorrow with the entire nation over his death, which is an unsurmountable loss to our country, we express our heartfelt condolences to his bereaved family and pray almighty to bestow peace on the departed soul," RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and general secretary Suresh (Bhayya) Joshi said in a statement.
"Dr Abdul Kalam's life, from obscurity as a small boy growing up in the temple city of Rameswaram to becoming Bharat's eleventh President, was a tale of extraordinary courage, determination, perseverance and the desire to excel. His life story is as well the story of our missiles, Agni, Prithvi, Aakash, Trishul and Nag, that have raised our nation as one of the missile powers of international reckoning. He, who had faith in Bharat's rich heritage and unswerving belief in our talented youth, wanted Bharat to emerge as a knowledge society and empowered nation," the RSS statement added, as per PTI.

Meanwhile, PTI reports that Rajya Sabha has been adjourned for tomorrow also in order to allow MPs to attend Dr Kalam's funeral scheduled for Wednesday.
In honour of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, Andhra Pradesh government and its employees will work an extra hour today, it has been announced. Earlier today, Telangana government had announced a holiday today.

News websites are reporting that the Union Cabinet has passed two separate resolutions condoling the death of former president APJ Abdul Kalam.
Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi pays tributes to APJ Abdul Kalam, says he was the People's President.
"Dr Kalam had the ability to connect with the youth of India. He dedicated his life to work, be it the missile program or being President. He will always be in our memory," Rahul adds.
