UP madarsa manager, arrested for sexually abusing 51 girls, sent to 14 days judicial custody

At least 51 girls were rescued from the madarsa following a raid by the UP Police yesterday which led to the arrest of Taiyab Jiya.

Lukcnow: Taiyab Jiya, the manager of a madarsa in Uttar Pradesh's Shahadatganj, was on Saturday sent to 14 days judicial custody, a day after he was arrested on molestation charges.

At least 51 girls were rescued from the madarsa following a raid by the UP Police yesterday which led to the arrest of Taiyab Jiya.

The family members of the girls rescued by the authorities later revealed they were allegedly held hostage and sexually abused by the manager of a madarasa which was being run in Lucknow's  Shahadatganj area.

The victims also claimed that the manager of the madarsa would often beat them and forced them to dance.

More than 125 girls were enrolled at the madarsa, the police said.

Some girls rescued by the police had filed a complaint against the manager for sexually harassing them.

The matter came to light after the victims threw pieces of paper mentioning their ordeal at neighbours' houses, who then took the matter to law enforcement agencies.

The police, after recording victims' statements, reported the matter to the Child Welfare Committee.

“We took strict action, the moment we got the complaint. We took our team and went there for the raid. We found 51 students who were held hostage in the madrasa. The culprit is arrested and we are doing our investigation. He used to molest those students and also beat them,” said Deepak Kumar, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Lucknow.
