Remain infertile but do not produce unsanskari kids: Guna BJP MLA Pannalal Shakya's bizzare advise to women

Bhopal: Once again, another Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader's bizzare logic has hit the headlines. This time, the spotlight is on BJP legislator from Guna in Madhya Pradesh – Pannalal Shakya.

According to Shakya, women should stay infertile rather than give birth to unsanskari or uncultured children.

“Women should rather remain infertile than produce kids who are not 'sanskari' and who deform society,” Guna said at an event in Madhya Pradesh.

Interestingly, the leader was speaking at an event on reformation of society.

The Guna MLA's comment came while he was attacking Congress.

“Congress came up with slogan of 'Gharibi Hatao' but instead wiped out the poor. There are women who give birth to such leaders,” he said.

This is not the first time that the Guna MLA has made such a comment.

Shakya had lashed out at cricketer Virat Kohli and actor Anushka Sharma, questioning their decision to get married on a foreign land and not in India.

Several BJP leaders have come in the line of fire in recent past over several remarks, with Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb taking the crown for the maximum controversial statements.

He first said that mechanical engineers should not civil services and later went on to clarify that only civil engineers should join civil services.

Next, he advised graduates to avoid chasing jobs and rear cows to get Rs 10 lakh in 10 years in their bank accounts.

But the ultimate gem was this:

"Internet and satellite communication had existed in the days of Mahabharata. How could Sanjaya (the charioteer of King Dhritarashtra) give a detailed account and description to the blind king about the battle of Kurukshetra? It means internet was there, the satellites and that technology was there in this country at that time," he said.
