Man shot dead, girlfriend raped by unidentified extortionist in Thane

MUMBAI: A man was allegedly shot dead and his girlfriend was raped in a village in Maharashtra. The incident took place in Thane's Nalimbi village on Monday night.

The deceased has been identified as Ganesh Dinkar. Dinkar and his girlfriend were at a hillock when a man approached them and demanded money.

According to the Thane rural police, the accused is yet to be identified.

When the couple said that they had no money, the man pointed a gun at Dinkar and allegedly raped his girlfriend.

It was after Dinkar tried to resist the unidentified man, the accused shot him dead and fled, police said.
