Delhi Capitals

169/4(17.5 Overs)

Welcome back for DC's response with the bat. The two umpires walk out to the middle. Royal Challengers Bengaluru form a team huddle near their dugout before spreading out to the park. Faf du Plessis is accompanied by Jake Fraser-McGurk to open for Delhi Capitals. Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been handed over the new ball and will kickoff the proceedings in this chase. Away we go...

... THE RUN CHASE ...

Well then, the million-dollar question now. Is 163 enough? Sure, it is a total to fight for all money, and RCB will be aiming to get quick early wickets in the Powerplay. A lot depends on how their new-ball bowlers, Josh Hazlewood and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, perform. For DC, their opening partnership has been vulnerable, and they too will need a strong start to chase this down. Stay tuned, as the run chase is up next very shortly.

Kuldeep Yadav of Delhi Capitals is in for a chat. He says it's very important to stick to the length and while playing on such wickets, it's important to give the ball a lot of revs, which worked well for him. Adds that the wicket is still good to bat on and with smaller dimensions, he had to keep persistent with the length and read what the batters were trying to do. States that he had a discussion with KL and Axar and with a few balls sticking to the surface, he planned accordingly, and the t

Axar Patel was smart in operating his bowlers, with them responding with massive returns. The two wristies, Kuldeep Yadav and Vipraj Nigam, broke the back of the RCB middle order with two wickets each. But with the help of Tim David's quickfire cameo of 37 off 20, at the backend, RCB managed to get past the 160-run mark, giving RCB a much-needed lift in the death overs.

As DC's bowlers tightened their grip, wickets fell in quick succession while Rajat Patidar watched helplessly from the non-striker's end. Each budding partnership was systematically broken before it could blossom into something substantial. The mounting scoreboard pressure eventually consumed Patidar too, who perished attempting to break free.

To save the momentum from nosediving, Kohli's aggression proved his undoing. His departure completed a stunning collapse that saw RCB plummet from a commanding 61 without loss to a precarious 91/4, leaving the home crowd stunned as Delhi's bowlers wrested control of proceedings with clinical efficiency. They only conceded 27 runs in the next six overs after the Powerplay.

The Bengaluru wicket promised runs aplenty, and RCB's opening pair didn't disappoint. Salt unleashed a boundary barrage, looking in devastating touch while Kohli found his fluent rhythm alongside him. Their partnership had the scoreboard racing until a communication breakdown resulted in Salt's unfortunate run-out, applying unexpected brakes to RCB's momentum. 62 runs came in the first four overs, while DC counterpunched back by conceding just two runs in the next two overs, including Mukesh Kum

They say miscommunication is the beginning of disaster, and RCB's innings perfectly embodied this truth as a promising start turned into a catastrophic collapse in the middle overs. But a brilliant late flourish from Tim David has helped RCB to post a fightable total on the board, as they manage to squeeze out 36 off the last two overs.

Mukesh Kumar to Tim David, ! Just the kind of end Royal Challengers Bengaluru were hoping for. 19 runs off the final over and they end at 163/7. Mukesh Kumar goes fuller than a length and outside off, Tim David carves it over covers for a four to close the innings.

Mukesh Kumar to Tim David, GIVEN WIDE but KL Rahul is certain that there was a nick and Delhi Capitals have sent it upstairs. Short and angling into the left shoulder of the batter, Tim David swivels back to pull but misses. The ball goes past the glove and KL Rahul takes a good catch to his left. The UltraEdge shows absolutely nothing as the ball passes the bat and the glove. Delhi Capitals lose the review. Stays a wide.

Not Starc, it is Mukesh Kumar (2-1-7-1) who will bowl the last over.

Kuldeep Yadav to Rajat Patidar, ! LEADING EDGE AND TAKEN! Skipper Rajat Patidar holes out now and Kuldeep Yadav gets his second wicket! Kuldeep Yadav continues to hold his length smartly and offers it on a fuller length, with a good bit of flight on it, on middle. Strategic Break. RCB find themselves in a spot of bother with half their side back in the hut. The pitch, which initially seemed good for batting, has suddenly sprung to life for the bowlers, making run-scoring trickier. Kuldeep Yadav to Jitesh Sharma, An appeal for LBW, but not given! KL Rahul and Kuldeep Yadav are quite convinced with the appeal and Axar Patel joins in the conversation as well. TOSS UPDATE - The coin flip lands in favor of Delhi Capitals and Axar Patel elects to BOWL first.
