We are back with the second essay! The two umpires are out in the middle and Mumbai Indians spread out to take the field. As expected, Jasprit Bumrah comes in as an impact substitute, replacing Rohit Sharma!
... THE RUN CHASE ...
Right then, 216 the target! Lucknow Super Giants will need another strong showing from their top order if theyâre to pull off this chase. The pitch has played true so far, with no real demons, and if they bat smartly, this total is certainly within reach. That said, Mumbai Indians have a world-class bowling attack champing at the bit, ready to strike early and pile on the pressure. Itâs all perfectly set up for a cracking second innings! Back in a bit with LSGâs reply!
The latest Orange Cap holder, Mumbai Indians' SURYAKUMAR YADAV, is up for a chat. On being asked about its ownership, Suryakumar smiles and says that it is the first time for him, to hold the Orange Cap, after a really long time. Adds that it feels really special and hopes that he can continue with the same consistency. On his consistency, Yadav says that he is just following the processes. On his batting, SKY says that he was really happy when MI lost the toss because it is really hot out there
While the Lucknow Super Giants weren't terrible with the ball, they failed to capitalise on the crucial breakthroughs that came their way. A lack of consistency with tight lines and lengths hurt them, and no bowler looked threatening enough to trouble the incoming batters. Tellingly, only two of the 20 overs went boundary-less, a clear testament to how well MI maintained relentless pressure throughout the innings. Avesh Khan and Mayank Yadav picked up two wickets each for LSG, while the rest
Despite losing wickets at regular intervals, Mumbai Indians always found a batter ready to take on the aggressorâs role, ensuring the scoring rate never slowed down. Suryakumar Yadav was the key through the middle overs, crafting a crucial fifty to keep the momentum alive. Later, Naman Dhir provided the perfect finish with a fiery cameo, propelling MI past the 200-run mark in style.
Rickelton soon brought up his second fifty of the season, a blistering effort off just 25 balls. However, Digvesh Singh provided LSG a much-needed breakthrough, removing the dangerous left-hander and briefly stemming the flow of runs. But the reprieve didnât last long.
Having been put into bat first, Mumbai Indians came out with clear intent. After a watchful first over to assess the conditions, Ryan Rickelton shifted gears, unleashing a flurry of lusty boundaries. At the other end, Rohit Sharma wasted no time either, going bang-bang against speedster Mayank Yadav with two towering sixes, before falling to a clever slower ball. Ryan, though, kept the momentum alive, continuing the onslaught while Will Jacks settled in and found his rhythm. Together, they
Mumbai Indians breach the 210-mark in style! Itâs been a perfectly calculated assault from the home side as they finish their 20 overs at a commanding 215/7. While Lucknow Super Giants showed glimpses of control with the ball, their inconsistency cost them dearly, and they now face a massive task ahead in chasing down this daunting total.
Avesh Khan to Naman Dhir, ! What a way to end the innings! Another full toss, on middle, Naman Dhir gets down and across and paddles this over short fine leg. Goes all the way! MUMBAI INNINGS END ON 215/7!
Deepak Chahar walks in next, at number 9. replacing Corbin Bosch.
Avesh Khan to Deepak Chahar, Another full toss, worked towards fine leg for a single.
Avesh Khan to Corbin Bosch, ! CAUGHT!
Avesh Khan to Corbin Bosch, ! Gets it through this time!
Avesh Khan to Naman Dhir, Nails the yorker at the stumps, Naman Dhir makes room and firms his drive to the left of cover. Mitchell Marsh dives to save a certain boundary and keeps it down to just a single.
Avesh Khan to Corbin Bosch, An appeal for LBW, but turned down. Unfortunately, LSG have no reviews left to challenge the call. However, it looked to come off the bat anyway.Â
Costly gamble. To bowl a spinner at the death at the Wankhede itself is a crime but to do so in the 19th over is almost unforgivable. That last over now puts Mumbai in prime position to get to 220. How much can Avesh Khan keep them to? Meanwhile, confusions in the field settings. Ravi Bishnoi runs in from point, towards square leg, and back again to point. Rishabh Pant is frantically trying to make changes in the field.
Digvesh Singh to Corbin Bosch, Outside off, a bit further wide, slapped to extra cover for a single. 19 from the over, Digvesh Singh finishes with figures of 4-0-48-1.
Digvesh Singh to Corbin Bosch, ! WHACK! 200 UP FOR MI! Tossed up, around off, the googly, Corbin Bosch picks the wrong 'un, gets down on a knee and slog-sweeps this into orbit, hitting a colossal maximum over mid-wicket! Pant now has a chat with Digvesh.
Digvesh Singh to Naman Dhir, Follows the batter down the leg side, Dhir works it towards mid-wicket for a single.
Digvesh Singh to Naman Dhir, Six!
Digvesh Singh to Corbin Bosch, 1 run.
Digvesh Singh to Corbin Bosch, ! Just about manages to get some bat on it. Tossed up, on off, Corbin Bosch brings out the reverse sweeps and taps the ball off the inner half of the bat, squeezing it past the keeper to his right for a boundary.
Will it be Digvesh Singh from this end? Indeed. Big gamble. 3-0-29-1 so far.
Avesh Khan to Corbin Bosch, On middle, worked through mid on for a single. 9 runs and a wicket from the over, Avesh Khan's figures read 3-0-29-1.
Avesh Khan to Corbin Bosch, Yorker, outside off, Bosch walks into the shot and attempts to push and run, but can only get a bottom edge back to the bowler. Has to scurry back.
Avesh Khan to Corbin Bosch, First runs in the IPL for Bosch!
In walks the IPL debutant - Corbin Bosch - at number 8, replacing Suryakumar Yadav. While coming in, has a long chat with Surya, regarding the pitch and conditions, one supposes.
Avesh Khan to Suryakumar Yadav, ! CAUGHT! Suryakumar Yadav would have sent it over the ropes 9 out of 10 times, but this time he picks out the man to perfection!
Avesh Khan to Suryakumar Yadav, AND FIFTY FOR SKY! Gets there in just 27 balls and continues to make the most of his purple patch. Short of a length, outside off, Suryakumar Yadav is early to read the length and pulls it wide and above deep square leg for a six.Â
At the Wankhede, Suryakumar Yadav has an excellent record, where he averages 41, with a strike rate of 165 - the latter being the best by any player at this venue. The numbers are before today's knock. Avesh Khan returns. 2-0-20-0 so far. So when is Digvesh Singh going to bowl his last over?
Avesh Khan to Suryakumar Yadav, Fires it full and outside off, Suryakumar Yadav looks to hack his slog across the line but misses.Â
Prince Yadav to Suryakumar Yadav, Another yorker.
Prince Yadav to Suryakumar Yadav, A length ball, wide outside off, Suryakumar reaches out and steers it through point. Avesh Khan dives full stretch to his right from backward point but cannot stop it cleanly. The ball bounces off his hands behind point and the batters get a couple, by the time sweeper cover can cut it off to his left.
Prince Yadav to Suryakumar Yadav, Excellent yorker, again this one tails in, around off, well dug out by Suryakumar Yadav.
Prince Yadav to Naman Dhir, 1 run.
Prince Yadav to Naman Dhir, ! Consecutive boundaries for Naman Dhir!
ORANGE CAP FOR SURYAKUMAR YADAV! Just didn't realize, did we? Just kept on feeling that Sai Sudharsan is sitting pretty with that Cap but along comes Surya and whisks it off! 418 runs in the tournament for SKY, averaging 69.66 and a strike rate of 169.91. Suryakumar Yadav has a strong batting record against LSG in the IPL; during their last encounter, he delivered a brilliant innings, scoring 67 at a strike rate of 156.

Mayank Yadav to Naman Dhir, WIDE! Angling in, but sprays it down leg, on a length, Naman tries to tickle it behind but misses. Oh hand on, Lucknow Super Giants have challenged the onfield call of a wide given. The UltraEdge shows absolutely nothing as the ball goes past the batter and the onfield call of WIDE stays. Lucknow Super Giants now burn both their reviews.Â
Mayank Yadav to Naman Dhir, WIDE! Goes hard into the surface a bit too short and over off, Naman Dhir lets it pass.Â
Mayank Yadav to Naman Dhir, Fuller length, on off, Naman Dhir offers a solid block first up.Â
Naman Dhir walks in next, at number 7, replacing his skipper, Hardik Pandya.
Mayank Yadav to Hardik Pandya, ! CLEANED'EM UP! So often we see a wicket right after the break, and this time, Hardik Pandya falls prey to it. The slower balls are working like magic for Mayank Yadav so far!Â
STRATEGIC TIME. 91/3 in the middle overs stage, consisting of 9 overs. MI have been losing wickets, but also getting the runs. After Ryan Rickelton, it seems likeSuryakumar Yadav has taken the role of batting deep, but it is not like he is just playing the anchor role. His strike rate reads a good 209.52, which is why he is such a dangerous batter in T20 cricket. Mumbai still have some batting to come, in Naman Dhir ââââand Corbin Bosch while Karn Sharma and Deepak Chahar can s

Avesh Khan to Hardik Pandya, Short, outside off, pace off, Pandya throws his bat at it. But due to the lack of pace, the ball holds on the surface, resulting in a bottom edge to the off side. A single taken.
Avesh Khan to Hardik Pandya, Closer to the off stump, on a length, Hardik pushes it back to the bowler.
Avesh Khan to Hardik Pandya, A full toss, outside off, Hardik Pandya drives it through the covers for a couple. Gets off the mark with an absolute pie.
Avesh Khan to Suryakumar Yadav, On a length around off, Suryakumar Yadav drives this all along the carpet through cover for one.Â
Avesh Khan to Suryakumar Yadav, ! Slower one, pitched short and wide outside off. Suryakumar Yadav plays this late and uses his wrists to hit this over the fielder at backward point for a boundary. This was a top-notch stroke from SKY.Â
Avesh Khan to Suryakumar Yadav, Good-length delivery around off, Suryakumar Yadav looks to run this down to third man region but finds the fielder at short third.Â
Skipper Hardik Pandya walks in next, at number 6, replacing Tilak Varma.
Ravi Bishnoi to Tilak Varma, ! CAUGHT!
Ravi Bishnoi to Suryakumar Yadav, 1 run.

Ravi Bishnoi to Suryakumar Yadav, Four!

Tilak Varma walks in next at number 5, replacing Will Jacks.
Prince Yadav to Will Jacks, ! b Prince Yadav.
Prince Yadav to Suryakumar Yadav, Slower bumper from Prince Yadav and Suryakumar Yadav goes through with the pull. Doesn't get any timing behind this as Surya went through with the pull early and the ball arrived late. Luckily for Suryakumar Yadav the ball landed behind mid-wicket for one.Â
Prince Yadav to Suryakumar Yadav, Yorker on middle and off. Suryakumar Yadav jams this back to the bowler's right.Â

Mayank Yadav to Will Jacks, ! Just over! Seems like Will Jacks has taken the onus of keeping up with the scoring rate after Ryan Rickelton's departure. Full and angling into the pads, Will Jacks flicks it just over the leaping fielder at fine leg for a flat six.
Mayank Yadav to Will Jacks, ! These two in the middle may have decided to take on Mayank with his extra pace.Â
Mayank Yadav to Suryakumar Yadav, Mayank bends his back and darts one off a length towards the pads of SKY. Surya tucks this through mid-wicket for a single.Â
Mayank Yadav to Suryakumar Yadav, ! GLORIOUS! Pitched-up, wide outside off. Suryakumar Yadav moves in and gets right behind the line of it. Plays the field to perfection and he just chips this over mid off and the ball has raced to the fence for four.Â

Digvesh Singh to Suryakumar Yadav, Full again, on middle, Suryakumar Yadav clips it to deep mid-wicket for a single to get off the mark. Surprisingly, this is the first over without a boundary being conceded.Â

Avesh Khan to Will Jacks, 1 run.
Avesh Khan to Will Jacks, ! As easy as it can get! The 50-run stand is also up between these two batters. Avesh Khan serves a full toss, on the pads, and Jacks gracefully accepts it and flicks it past short fine leg to his left for a boundary.Â

Ravi Bishnoi to Ryan Rickelton, FIFTY! Did this carry though? The reaction of Bishnoi and Pant says it did. Fuller around leg, apparent googly. Ryan Rickelton looks to flick this towards the leg side but the ball turns away and it goes straight back to Bishnoi on his follow-through. Ravi Bishnoi doesn't manage to hold on and the ball is rolled back to long of for a single.Â
STRATEGIC TIME. Not a surprise that Rishabh Pant has called for it as soon as it was available. The bowling team can call for the timeout anytime between the 7th and the 9th overs and given that the final over of the Powerplay went for 19, this might be a move to just break the concentration of the batters, especially Rickelton.
Digvesh Singh to Ryan Rickelton, Changes the line and keeps it short, on the pads, Ryan Rickelton tucks it to mid-wicket for a single. 19 runs off the over and Mumbai Indians end the Powerplay at 66/1!

Digvesh Singh to Ryan Rickelton, ! A sloppy bit of effort from Nicholas Pooran out of all to allow a boundary! Not the best of balls from Digvesh Singh either as he drops it very short and well outside off, Ryan Rickelton punches it to the right of cover and Pooran fails to make a clean stop.

Ravi Bishnoi to Ryan Rickelton, 1 run.
Ravi Bishnoi to Ryan Rickelton, ! Launched! Ravi Bishnoi floats it full, outside off, Ryan Rickelton plants his front leg out and clubs it straight back over the bowler's head for a six at long on. Ryan Rickelton is making sure there is absolutely no dip in the scoring rate.Â

Ravi Bishnoi to Will Jacks, Around off, worked through mid-wicket for a single.
Ravi Bishnoi to Will Jacks, Huge, huge shout for LBW! Rishabh Pant was yelling his lungs out while Bishnoi was extremely confident, egging Pant to go for the review. The only question - where was the impact? From the first replay, it seems like the ball might have struck Jacks outside the line of off stump. It was the googly, outside off and Jacks had a mighty mow to the leg side, only to miss and get hit on the pads. The ball went off his pads and excellent stop by, I think, Mitchell Mars
Mumbai have felt at home this season and batted really well, with a run rate of 10.1. Dual spin attack. Here's Ravi Bishnoi.

In their last 4 wins, MI have won once while defending and thrice by chasing. One thing to note in the last two chases is that they won with 26 balls to spare. Spin is in early. Let's be ready with our notebooks and pens. Here's Digvesh Singh.
Digvesh Singh to Ryan Rickelton, Around off, possibly the googly, 92.9 kph, Rickelton lunges again and pushes it back to Digvesh again.
Digvesh Singh to Ryan Rickelton, Floated, around off, Ryan Rickelton pushes this back to the bowler.
Mayank Yadav to Will Jacks, No run.
Will Jacks walks in next at number 3, replacing Rohit Sharma.
Mayank Yadav to Rohit Sharma, ! CAUGHT! Mayank Yadav has the last laugh and Mumbai Indians lose their first wicket for 33 runs. Surprisingly for Mayank, he gets rid of Rohit to a slower ball. Slows it up even further and bowls it at 120.8 kph, on a length and well outside off. Rohit Sharma bends a bit and reaches for the ball in an attempt to squeeze it behind square on the off side but fails to read the slower ball. Scoops it straight to Prince Yadav at short third who takes a simpl

Prince Yadav to Ryan Rickelton, ! Ryan Rickelton has made his intenstions very clear!Â
Prince Yadav to Ryan Rickelton, ! Almost took Rohit Sharma off with the shot!
Prince Yadav to Ryan Rickelton, No run.
Prince Yadav to Ryan Rickelton, Six!
Prince Yadav to Ryan Rickelton, Direct hit would have been curtains for Ryan Rickelton! Around off, Rickelton pushed it towards point and set off running, after getting a start from Rohit Sharma. But then, Rohit changed his mind after seeing the fielder get to the ball quickly. Rickelton was stranded halfway down and was on the point of no return. Aiden Markram got to the ball, took aim and had a shy the striker's end but missed. Ryan was nowhere in the frame!
Rohit Sharma has finally unleashed his HITMAN MODE, scoring back-to-back 70-plus scores in his last 2 innings. Rohit scored just 82 runs at an average of 13.7 in his first 5 innings but has come into a great form scoring 146 runs in his last 2 innings.
Mayank Yadav to Ryan Rickelton, A good start from Mayank Yadav! 6 runs off his first over. Drops the length short and hits the deck hard, on middle and off, Ryan taps it to the left of mid off and steals a quick run.

The umpires make their way out to the middle and a huge roar engulfs them as the Men In Blue's openers follow them - Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton. Rohit has a bit of a nudge with Rishabh Pant and it is good to see both of them smiling, and in high spirits. And now, here is the sensation - MAYANK YADAV. He can bowl fast, but remember, if he is erratic, the faster he bowls, the faster he will travel. Rickelton will be on strike. Here we go!
Mayank Yadav to Ryan Rickelton, Good start after being out of action for 6 months. Full and straight, hint of inswing, Ryan Rickelton defends it towards mid off.
So all eyes will be on Corbin Bosch. Remember, he was initially scheduled to play for Peshawar Zalmi in the Pakistan Super League, but after being picked in the IPL auctions, chose his loyalty towards Mumbai. PSL has banned him for one year as he withdrew after committing to the franchise, but as far as Corbin is concerned, it is a thing of the past. Bosch is a fast bowler, with decent batting skills, as was shown in Centurion in a Test match against Pakistan in 2024. Understandably, Bumrah wi
The skipper of Mumbai Indians, HARDIK PANDYA, says he was also planning to bowl first but looking at the heat, does not mind batting first either. On the adjustment needed to play a day game, Hardik says that it is just the mindset and reminding oneself that as children, they used to play in this heat. So, his advice is to not think about the heat else it could mentally tire you down. On the ESA day, Pandya states that the ESA game has always been very special, applauding the initiative by Ms
The captain of Lucknow Super Giants, RISHABH PANT, says that the wicket might start slow under the heat and might get better later on, which is why he wants to bowl first. Mentions that he is just trying to stay in a positive mindset and is talking to everybody around, not trying to think a lot about the game. States that the stats are there only to give comfort and knowledge but they will have to play well on the given day. Informs that Mayank Yadav comes in place of Shardul Thakur. Concludes t

Digvesh Singh to Naman Dhir, Six!

These two in the middle may have decided to take on Mayank with his extra pace.Â

Mayank Yadav to Ryan Rickelton, On a good length this time, 141.5 kph, Rickelton stays back and pushes it towards cover.
Concludes t

Lucknow Super Giants
161/10(20 Overs)

In their last 4 wins, MI have won once while defending and thrice by chasing. One thing to note in the last two chases is that they won with 26 balls to spare. Spin is in early. Let's be ready with our notebooks and pens. Here's Digvesh Singh.

Concludes t

TOSS - It is time for the spin of the coin. Hardik Pandya flips the coin, TAILS is the call from Rishabh Pant and it is a Tail. So the first loss at the toss at home this season for Hardik. LUCKNOW SUPER GIANTS ELECT TO CHASE.

His strike rate reads a good 209.52, which is why he is such a dangerous batter in T20 cricket.
