All in readiness for the chase to begin.
... THE RUN CHASE ...
The pitch has offered some turn, and apart from the odd ball holding up a bit, it hasnât been particularly difficult to bat on. GT's top three have done the heavy lifting, and MI will believe that if they can dismiss them cheaply, they can target the untested middle and lower order. For GT, the focus will be on their opening pair to get the chase underway and calm those early nerves. Back in a bit for the chase.
Rashid Khan is in for a chat. He says he is feeling like he was close to his best, maybe around 70-75 per cent. Feels he has missed the length many times, and thatâs why he has gone for runs, and today he focused on his lengths, and thatâs why he got some good results.
At 89/2 at the halfway mark, MI looked well placed, but the innings unravelled quickly once the partnership was broken. From a commanding position at 97/2, they collapsed to 123/7. First, Sai Kishore and Rashid Khan made key breakthroughs, followed by the pairing of Gerald Coetzee and Prasidh Krishna. With a few lusty blows towards the end, Corbin Bosch helped MI cross 150, but the platform they had laid for themselves promised a lot more.
Earlier, after winning the toss, the Gujarat Titans struck early by removing both openers. It could have been an even better start had they held on to their chances, with three catches going down in the Powerplay. Will Jacks, dropped on 0 and 29, cashed in, as did Suryakumar Yadav, who was let off on 10. The duo laid a strong platform with a 71-run stand.
A final-over flourish for MI, but overall, it was an innings that promised a lot but left much to be desired. The last 10 overs saw MI score only 66 runs and lose 6 wickets. Given the fielding lapses in the Powerplay, GT will be quite pleased to have restricted MI to 155.
Prasidh Krishna to Deepak Chahar, ! Deepak Chahar finishes on a high and Mujeeb Ur Rahman have a score on board. Prasidh Krishna goes short of a length at the death again and bowls it around off. Chahar fetches the ball and clobbers it wide of deep mid-wicket and strikes it well enough to beat a chasing Rashid Khan to his left. 18 off the final over and MI finish with 155/8 on the board!
Prasidh Krishna to Karn Sharma, Back of a length over middle and leg, Karn Sharma looks to lean back and pull but mistimes it through wide mid-wicket for a single.
Karn Sharma walks in as MI's impact sub. Rohit Sharma has been subbed out.
Has the dive saved Corbin Bosch here? The throw was a bit wide from Rashid Khan, and Jos Buttler had to reach out.
Prasidh Krishna to Corbin Bosch, ! RUN OUT! That is sensational work from Jos Buttler and Corbin Bosch has to depart after a fighting knock.
Ouch! A nasty blow on the helmet for Corbin Bosch. The physio sprints out for the concussion check. A replacement helmet is being brought out for Corbin. Bosch is ready to resume.
Prasidh Krishna to Corbin Bosch, Oh, that's ruffled the feathers!
Prasidh Krishna to Corbin Bosch, ! Oh, that's sailed over as well! Krishna goes full and attempts the yorker on off, Corbin Bosch goes down on one knee and plays the reverse sweep to a ball that was clocked at 150 KPH! Bosch gets it up and over wide deep third for another six and that is an unreal shot.
Prasidh Krishna to Corbin Bosch, ! Bosch keeping the fight alive for MI! Prasidh hits that favored in between length and bowls it around off. Corbin Bosch picks it early, presses back and whacks it over the deep mid-wicket fence for a biggie.
Mohammed Siraj to Corbin Bosch, Full and around off, Bosch goes deep in the crease and drives it hard to long off for only a single.

Rashid Khan to Corbin Bosch, Bowled flatter and around off, Corbin Bosch brings out the reverse sweep now but misses and gets hit on the pads. A half-hearted appeal but the umpire shakes his head.
Rashid Khan to Corbin Bosch, A slight fumble and Bosch manages to get back on strike!
Prasidh Krishna to Corbin Bosch, Short ball over leg, pulled away down to deep backward square leg for a single.
Prasidh Krishna to Corbin Bosch, SAFE! A better throw and that would have been curtains for Deepak Chahar! Full and straight, Bosch jams it across to mid-wicket and sets off for the single before deciding against it. Sai Sudharsan with a quick pick up but a sluggish throw at the bowler's end. Prasidh Krishna collects it and whips off the bails but replays show that Chahar had just managed to get back in time.
Prasidh Krishna to Deepak Chahar, Very full and on the pads, flicked away down to fine leg for a single.
Prasidh Krishna to Deepak Chahar, No run.
Deepak Chahar walks in at number 9.
Prasidh Krishna to Naman Dhir, ! CAUGHT! That is such a difficult length to go after and Prasidh Krishna picks up his 20th wicket of the campaign, the first one to do so in the 2025 IPL season.
Prasidh Krishna to Naman Dhir, No run.
Gerald Coetzee to Corbin Bosch, Full and straight, angling it in, Bosch flicks it straight to mid-wicket and sets off for the single. Dhir sends him back but a direct hit from Mohammed Siraj would still have been curtains for Bosch.
Gerald Coetzee to Corbin Bosch, Excellent work in the deep from Sai Kishore but he seems to have hurt himself here.
Is that a boundary?
Gerald Coetzee to Corbin Bosch, Oh, beaten! Perfect length in the channel outside off, inviting the drive. Bosch goes for it but the ball zips off the deck and beats the outside edge.
Gerald Coetzee to Corbin Bosch, Goes hard into the deck, bowling it short and around off, Bosch leans back to pull but miscues it back to the bowler.
Gerald Coetzee to Naman Dhir, Good length in the channel, punched on the up and towards wide mid off for an easy single.
Gerald Coetzee to Naman Dhir, ! SHOT! Hard length, around the top of off and middle, Naman Dhir is still able to hit through the line and smacks it back over mid off for a clean boundary.
Prasidh Krishna to Naman Dhir, Hard length, drifting onto the pads, Naman Dhir fails to flick it away. The ball goes off the thigh pads through the fine leg region and they get a leg bye.
Prasidh Krishna to Naman Dhir, Back of a length again and on a tight line around off, Dhir hops up and dabs it down to backward point. Four dots in the over so far.
Prasidh Krishna to Corbin Bosch, Short ball now, aimed in at the rib cage, Bosch stylishly pulls it with one leg up and towards deep square leg for a run.
Prasidh Krishna to Corbin Bosch, No run.
Prasidh Krishna to Corbin Bosch, Back of a length and over off, Bosch stands tall and punches it back to the bowler. Prasidh Krishna shows a bit of aggression by throwing the ball back at the bowler before quickly apologizing for it.
Prasidh Krishna to Corbin Bosch, A well-directed bumper, around off and getting it in at a good height as well. Corbin Bosch quickly ducks under it.
Gerald Coetzee to Corbin Bosch, Good-length delivery, aimed in at the pads, clipped away firmly to the right of deep mid-wicket for a single by Bosch.
Corbin Bosch walks out to the middle.
Gerald Coetzee to Tilak Varma, ! CAUGHT! A soft dismissal and Gerald Coetzee picks up a wicket in his very first over. This is pitched up around off, but Coetzee generally hits the deck hard, which means the ball rises up after pitching. Tilak Varma stays put and crouches before trying to swat it flat over mid off, but gets no elevation on it. Shubman Gill at mid off just puts his hands up over his head and nonchalantly takes the catch. MI in a spot of bother at 113/6!
Gerald Coetzee to Naman Dhir, Pitched up, full and wide outside off, Naman Dhir reaches out and slashes it down to deep third for a single.
Gerald Coetzee to Naman Dhir, Hits the deck hard, bowling it back of a length and outside off, Dhir crunches it square on the off side but finds the cover-point fielder.
Gerald Coetzee to Naman Dhir, Oh, confusion in the middle! Hard length over middle, Naman just drops the ball in front of short mid-wicket and looks to stroll for the single. The batters realize that Mohammed Siraj is way closer to the ball and scamper straight back.
STRATEGIC BREAK! The fall of three quick wickets has forced the Mumbai Indians to rebuild at a stage when they would have ideally looked to accelerate. Gujarat Titans have pulled things back well through their spinners and will now look to tighten the screws with two new batters at the crease. The pitch hasnât shown any real signs of difficulty, and MI have squandered a solid foundation.
Gerald Coetzee to Tilak Varma, Begins with a full-pitched delivery around off, Varma gets low and drives it through mid off for a single.
Sai Kishore to Tilak Varma, 1 run.
Sai Kishore to Tilak Varma, Wide!

Pitching in line, impact in line and wickets missing as the ball is going over the leg stump. Gujarat Titans lose the review. NOT is the call!
Reviewed! That was the googly from Rashid Khan and seemed to be hitting Will Jacks right in front of the stumps. Not Out given on the field by the umpire, maybe turning too much? Shubman Gill has taken the review. The third umpire comes into play and first of all, there's clearly no bat involved. Ball Tracking shows that there is some turn and bounce in the deck and wickets are umpire's call. Jacks survives again as NOT comes up on the big screen.
Rashid Khan to Will Jacks, 1 run.
Rashid Khan to Will Jacks, Overpitched on off, Will Jacks drives it over the bowler's head to the right of long off, who puts in a good dive running to his right and saves two. Mohammed Siraj the fielder.

Sai Kishore to Will Jacks, Beats the bat straight away! Pushed through from around the wicket, Will Jacks looks to drive it away on the off side. Plays inside the line and gets beaten on the outside edge.
Strategic Break! Mumbai Indians are 56/2 after the Powerplay, and it looks like a decent start, but it could have been disastrous. Gujarat Titans have put down 3 regulation catches so far, with Will Jacks getting a couple of lives and Suryakumar Yadav also getting one. Arshad Khan has bowled exceptionally well, but if you give a team like MI so many chances, sooner or later, it could almost certainly come back to bite you.
