19-year old girl student commits suicide

Coimbatore: A 19-year-old second year B.Com student allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison near her hostel room in the city.

The girl, a resident of Kothagiri in Nilgiris district, was found lying unconscious near a private hostel in Peelamedu in the city late last night, police said today.

Hostel mates immediately informed the management, who rushed and admitted her to the Government Hospital.

However she did not respond to treatment and passed away this morning, police said. The reason for her taking the extreme step was yet to be ascertained, they said.
