Hyderabad: A one-and-half-year-old girl who accidentally fell into the Musi river at Nagole here on Thursday after slipping from her father`s arms is feared to have drowned, the police said.
The incident occurred when M Shyam Reddy, an NRI from the United Kingdom, held his daughter Manvi in his arms on the railing of a bridge, when she suddenly slipped from his arms and fell into the river, the police said.
"The baby accidentally fell into the river after slipping from her father`s arms," Deputy Commissioner of Police (L B Nagar Zone) Ravi Varma said.
Reddy, had come down to Hyderabad a few days ago and took his daughter and two other children of his relative to the river for sightseeing, sources said.
A search operation was launched after the incident and it is feared that the girl has drowned, they said.
