No intention to destabilise Andra govt: YSR Cong

Successive by-election victories and desertions from Congress notwithstanding, YSR Congress has no intention to destabilise the Kiran Reddy govt.

New Delhi: Successive by-election victories and desertions from Congress notwithstanding, YSR Congress has no intention to destabilise the Kiran Kumar Reddy government in Andhra Pradesh.
The Y S Jaganmohan Reddy-led fledgling party also put the onus on the UPA government over a decision on contentious Telangana statehood demand, saying the outfit was in no position to announce its stand because of its "limited clout" in the state assembly and Parliament.
YSR Congress` honorary president and Jagan`s mother Y S Vijayamma said people in all regions of Andhra Pradesh desire Jagan to assume a "larger role" in politics and expect him to carry forward his late father`s initiatives.

"We have no intention to do anything to the government. We have made it clear several times that the Congress government was brought back to power by my late husband. Why will we rock the boat," she asked.

Vijayamma, who met President Pranab Mukherjee yesterday seeking his intervention in getting her son released from jail, said 1.9 crore people have signed petitions demanding Jagan`s release from jail.

She alleged that Jagan was being "victimised" for walking out of the Congress.
On Telangana, Vijayamma said, "We have said that we are not in a position to dictate things. We want the Centre to decide in a manner that injustice is not rendered to anyone."
