Patna: RJD on Saturday demanded that Chief
Minister Nitish Kumar order a inquiry into alleged nexus
between politicians and Maoists in Bihar.
Talking to reporters here, RJD spokesperson Shakeel
Ahmed Khan said "the Naxalites are being patronised by the
politicians and the Chief Minister must order a thorough probe
into the nexus".
He said Imamganj, the Assembly constituency of the
Speaker of the state Assembly Uday Narayan Choudhary, was
"severely affected" by the ultras and they were receiving
political patronage.
"Imamganj is a case which requires an independent
inquiry", he said, adding, it was necessary for people to
know who were the leaders giving patronage to Maoists in
Imamganj and other parts of Bihar.
The RJD leader also demanded that the state government
immediately intervene in "police action being taken against
innocent people under the garb of Naxalites".
He said the recent arrests made in connection with an
incident perpetrated by Maoists at Barha village in Gaya
district was a glaring example.
Khan said his party would launch a protest from
Imamganj against the police action from February 5.
