Four naxals held in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district

Four naxals were on Friday arrested during a joint search operation in the insurgency-hit Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh, police said.

Raipur: Four naxals were on Friday arrested during a joint search operation in the insurgency-hit Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh, police said.

While three cadres were apprehended from Basaguda police station limits, another was held from Usoor police station area by a joint team of security forces, Bijapur Superintendent of Police KL Dhruv told a news agency.

Joint squads of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Special Task Force (STF), Chhattisgarh Armed Force (CAF) and district force were dispatched towards different restive pockets of Bijapur, located around 450 km from here, to carry out anti-naxal operations, he said.

"During these operations, the cadres were nabbed," he added.

Those arrested were identified as Punem Suresh (30), Punem Shankar (30), Korsa Hunga (25) and Renga Ramlu (35), the SP said.

They were allegedly involved in various naxal incidents, including murder, attempt to murder, abduction, loot and others, he said, adding several warrants were also pending against them.
