New Delhi: The collapse of a four-storeyed building in North Delhi`s Inderlok area Friday, which claimed 10 lives and left two others injured, has once again highlighted the use of poor construction material in buildings.

According to the North Delhi Municipal Corporation, the reason for the collapse of the 50-year-old building was the poor quality of the raw material that weakened its base and it crumbled following ongoing construction in an adjacent plot.
Delhi has witnessed similar incidents in the last couple of years:

June 1, 2014 -- Three people were killed and 12 others, including three women, injured when a three-storeyed under-construction building collapsed in the congested Sadar Bazar area of Old Delhi. The main reason for the collapse was the use of poor construction material.
