New Delhi: The city government has told Delhi High Court that it has complied with its directions to enhance pay of a retired additional district judge, the presiding officer of two tribunals, and to fix terms and conditions of his appointment.
The submissions were made by Delhi government in an affidavit filed through advocate Zubeda Begum.
However, as the affidavit was not on the court's record, a bench of justices Badar Durrez Ahmed and Sanjeev Sachdeva listed the matter for hearing on April 22.
The court said if it finds its directions have not been complied with, then it will summon the government officials concerned to appear before it and give an explanation.
According to the affidavit, Delhi government has paid Rs 6.06 lakh to retired ADJ VK Maheshwari as arrears of his salary and other allowances from May 2014 to February 2015.
The government also said it has framed the terms and conditions regarding salary and allowances applicable to re-employed officers of Delhi Higher Judicial Service appointed as presiding officer in Delhi School Tribunal.
The affidavit was filed pursuant to the court's March 26 order giving the city government time till April 15 to comply with its earlier direction to enhance salary of Maheshwari, the presiding officer of two appellate tribunals.
The direction had come on a plea filed on behalf of Maheshwari by advocate Sanjeev Ralli, in which it has been claimed that the tribunal head had not been paid any salary since his appointment on May 1, 2014.
On March 19, the court had issued a contempt notice to the Finance Secretary of the city government for not complying with its order despite repeated warnings.
Prior to that, the court had on March 12 pulled up Delhi government for non-compliance of its January 28 order and warned that it was "contemplating issuing of contempt notices".
