New Delhi: In a move to establish if any Delhi government official had favoured power distribution companies, authorities Thursday asked the three firms in the city to furnish information regarding their relationship with former government officials.

In a letter to the Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of discoms, the Power Department asked them to provide details regarding employment or consultation of former officials of Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) and various departments of the state government.

"Provide details regarding any relationship of BSES Yamuna Power Ltd (BYPL), BSES Rajdhani Power Ltd (BRPL) and Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (TPDDL) with any former senior officers of the DERC including its chairman/members or officers of the department of power and Delhi government, since inception of your company till today," the letter said.

It further mentioned that information may be given irrespective of the nature of relationship which may include permanent employment/part time employment/long term or short term contract, consultancy, advisory, availing of any services, any outsourcing work and any involvement in purchases including payment of any commission etc.

The department has also sought information regarding relationships of former officials with any sister concerns of the discoms.

Power Minister Satyendra Jain has asked the discoms to provide the information in a time bound manner.

"We have sent a letter to all the discoms asking their relation with senior officers of DERC and power department since their inception. This relationship can be in direct and indirect form," Jain said.

According to a senior official, the move would establish if any official have favored power distribution companies in the past.

However, when asked about this, Jain refused to comment.
