Delhi woman's body found hidden in accused’s ventilator shaft

Naveen confessed to the crime and blamed Arzoo’s constant pressure for marriage as the main reason behind the murder.

Delhi: The body of a 23-year-old Delhi University student was discovered early on Sunday from the ventilation shaft of a four-storey building belonging to her boyfriend in northwest Delhi’s Rajpura village near Model Town.

According to media reports, the woman, identified as Arzu Singh Chauhan, was abducted from outside her college allegedly by her boyfriend who then strangled her and later dumped her body in his Rajpura house.

The murder happened on February 2, two days before he married another girl and spent the first night with her in the same room where the body was dumped.

Naveen Khatri was arrested on Saturday, two days after his marriage.

The victim, a third year Hindi (honours) student at Laxmibai College, was reportedly pregnant, sources in Delhi Police said.

Police are waiting for her autopsy report to confirm her pregnancy.

On the day she went missing, the police said the woman was accompanying the accused in distributing his wedding invitation card.

Naveen was arrested after his interrogation led to the recovery of Arzoo’s body from his building’s shaft.
