Gang of contract killers smashed in Delhi

Delhi Police claimed to have smashed a gang of contract killers with the arrest of three youths who are wanted in at least eight cases in Delhi and neighbouring states.

New Delhi: Delhi Police on Wednesday claimed to
have smashed a gang of contract killers with the arrest of
three youths who are wanted in at least eight cases in Delhi
and neighbouring states.

Nirbhay Thakur (29), Dinesh Verma (26) and Naresh
Sharma (24) were apprehended from East Delhi`s Gazipur
yesterday following a tip off, Arun Kampani, Deputy
Commissioner of Police (Special Cell), said.

The gang is involved in several cases of contract
killings and robberies in Delhi, UP and Haryana.
"It was learnt that Thakur after coming out of jail in
2009 has re-organised his gang and has been planning to
execute a contract killing and robbery," Kampani said.

Nirbhay Thakur had one .32 bore pistol and Dinesh and
Naresh Sharma were in possession of one .315 bore pistol each
when they were arrested.

"The gang used to target rich businessmen by
collecting information about their money transactions by
befriending their employees. They also used to take money for
contract killing and their interrogation has revealed their
involvement in many such cases," Kampani said.

Thakur was previously arrested in at least six cases
while Dinesh was arrested in four cases.
