Man shot dead by bike-borne assailants in Delhi

A 35-year-old man was shot and then his throat slit by two bike-borne assailants in South-East Delhi's Jaitpur area here Tuesday evening.

New Delhi: A 35-year-old man was shot and then his throat slit by two bike-borne assailants in South-East Delhi's Jaitpur area here Tuesday evening.

The incident took place around 6.15 pm when the victim, identified as Roshan, was returning to his Faridabad home.

The victim is said to be the president of Gareeb Aadmi Party from ward No. 202 of Badarpur and posters with his pictures were found on walls in the area.

"When he reached Jaitpur area, two men who were riding separate motorcycles waylaid him and shot him. Once Roshan collapsed, one of the accused got off his bike and slit his throat to ensure that he is dead," said a police officer.

Both the accused managed to flee from the spot and are yet to be identified by the police.

A passerby made a call to the police control room.

The victim was rushed to the nearby Apollo Hospital where he was declared brought dead.

A case under the section of murder has been registered against unknown persons at Jaitpur police station. Further investigation is underway, police said.
